Child care: check first

California child care licensing asks for pediatric first aid and pediatric CPR, and since January 1, 2026 that training must also cover anaphylaxis and epinephrine auto-injectors. The Red Cross sells a separate California Child Care pediatric course for licensing; this Adult and Pediatric course is a different one. Confirm with your licensing office which course it accepts before you book.

Teachers and youth programs

For a preliminary California teaching credential, the Commission on Teacher Credentialing asks for CPR training that includes infant, child and adult skills, and the CPR must meet AHA or Red Cross standards. This course covers all three ages, which suits teachers, aides, coaches and camp staff.

Nannies and families

Nannies, babysitters, au pairs and parents who want adult and pediatric skills in one card.

Workplaces that ask for Red Cross
